Selena H Bilson

Selena, also known as Hope Bilson, is an artist based in Cornwall, England.

She recently graduated with a Fine Art BA (Hons) from Falmouth University.

She primarily creates work centred around everyday life, aiming to capture the unseen and unnoticed moments in objects, spaces, and places, which invites investigation and a closer look, that often creates moments of reminiscing, bringing back memories, sentimental attachments, feelings, and insights into life.

She captures this through charcoal sketches, acrylic and oil paintings, and handmade miniatures.

Approach

St Ives Residency

I am inspired by little everyday moments and the unseen, as well as our use of spaces, blurring the boundary between what is private and what is public.  I am also curious about the atmospheres and feelings that certain places create as well as the memories associated with objects.

-Selena H Bilson

Selena often makes miniatures and maquettes out of wood, resin and clay.  They help recreate and encapsulate the mood and atmosphere of a place, as well as providing a holistic view of a specific feeling.
